Interesting spot, there are some good shops that have unique items otherwise quite a few selling the same stuff. Picked up a few good things and paid roughly half to a little under for most things.

We visited this market armed with a sceptical attitude after reading a few reviews, but were pleasantly surprised.

Most stallholders were very polite and allowed us to browse without pushing us to buy anything, a couple were slightly overbearing but soon backed off once we thanked them and started moving on. The prices as marked (some stalls didn't have marked prices) seemed comparable to Jack's (which we visited beforehand to get a feel for prices). However, often the stallholders would offer half price "local price" before we even indicated we were interested in anything, and when pushed, would accept about 30-40% of the original price. It seemed there was more room to bargain on larger, more expensive items.

We recommend walking through before making any purchases to get a feel for what's on offer and which stallholders seem most approachable.

We ended up buying two kava bowls, a couple of carved turtles, a miniature drum and a few shell necklaces.

Warning don’t buy your items until you’ve surveyed the entire market as the pricing decreases considerably as you go along and as locals size up your ability to detect fair pricing.

Having said that I purchased items from women who were weaving the item right in front of me so I could not begrudge them the amount they asked for a beautifully woven bag as it was a fair price and not worth haggling over.

However, every one has the same wooden carvings so haggle until you get the best price for wooden carvings.

Another warning, there was a guys outside that prevented us from entering the building from the back. He then took us to the side of the building where we found ourselves alone with him as he was forcing his items on us. We walked quickly towards the front entrance and told him we were not interested. Apparently there are quite a few pick pockets to be aware of so keep your eyes open.

Some really nice items
Good to go there with the intent of not buying anything on the first day 😁
Price easily divided by 2 , so sometime hard to know whether you had done a good deal or not
But you could definitely find some great stuff there
Purchased 10 Tanoa and a variety of food hanger and reproduction of museum pieces (kava bowls) in Vesi wood

It’s always a great idea to haggle to get the prices down, or better yet go with a local to get reasonable prices.
Most of this sellers are middleman, but it’s always a great idea to ask where the goods sold are actually from.
Some items sold come all the way from the Solomon Islands, PNG and more.
Over all It’s a great place to see some local artifacts, though some are pricy.

Divide the price by 4 to start bargaining, then accept to pay the third of asked price.
This is a tourist trap, I dont like this system and I dont like to be hooked and teated like an mental handicap person. Better go directly to Jack's in town, you will find the same products as reasonable price.

I visited the Handicrafts Centre a couple of times while in Fiji. The stalls are packed with traditional hand crafted items. The stall holders are friendly and welcoming. I advise that if you plan on taking any items back home/overseas that you ensure you know what you are allowed with respects to customs. I was travelling to Sydney and had no issues with items I purchased. As long as you declare them, you will be fine.

This was a day visit to Suva as we were on a cruise ship. We found the handicraft centre after being directed by locals. The stalls are set up individually with the sellers standing out side each one and inviting you to go in and take a look. They really want you to buy something! We soon learnt that all the stalls are selling very similar products if not the same. I found them to be a little too pushy for my liking and quickly realised that the price tag means nothing. I exited half way through and let my husband continue without me. Before leaving I went back to a stall and haggled for a wooden bowl I really liked. I had no problems bringing it back into Australia. It was certainly worth going for the experience if not for a souvenir.

在頭二三間店的定位太高,定價400FJD的珍珠項鏈,最後是可以殺價到40FJD,大部分商家並不老實,一定要殺價,而且要開天殺價,千萬不要信標價。
