If you’re interested in Idahoan history, Native American history, and/or Catholic history, this is a place to add to your “visit list.” The church, completed in 1853, is the oldest structure standing in Idaho. The museum on the grounds (an additional charge) provides some interesting context to the site. Make sure you visit the cemeteries, which add to the sacredness of the site.

Great location! I sure do wish they had restored some of the lost buildings rather than construct a huge "visitors center". They could have put that in one of the restored buildings! We paid at the gate to get in, I guess the person left, because we noticed that after us, no one was charged to enter. It's ok, I didn't mind donating!

This is such a lovely spot. The mission and house are super cool - given the age. The grounds are also nice if you want to bring a picnic lunch.

On our way to Yellowstone from Seattle we spied the mission from the road and headed for it. We learned a lot. The mission was beautiful inside and outside. So well and lovingly preserved--even some of the original wallpaper remained. So glad it was open for a quiet moment. The museum was also well done with all the furniture from that time. It was easy to imagine how the priest lived. The visitor center was informative and had a small gift shop. A great stop.

We were in the area and stopped here to check out the oldest building in Idaho. The mission has been very well preserved and it did not disappoint. It was moving to view the church and outlying buildings and bell. I can recommend this to anyone passing by who wants to learn about some Idaho history.

Very interesting piece of American history. Amazes me the extent of how pioneers wanted to get something done in the wilderness of the west. To see that this is preserved for the future. The huckleberry stained ceiling of the church is a must see.

My husband and I walked through the museum, mission and the grounds. It was amazing! First we watched the informational video in the visitors center. The mission is beautiful. The grounds around it are so scenic. There were some very old graves and buildings. I would recommend this as a stop in anyone’s North Idaho trip!!

Third visit here but this time with 92 students and approximately 15 adults. The presentation in the mission church by the state guide was informative and engaging although a little more background on the basics of the Catholic Church would have been helpful as so many children don’t attend church. The staff at the park entrance and in the visitors Center were not welcoming and we felt to be rather a nuisance and an inconvenience. Overall not a great educational experience and I doubt many children will recall important facts after a few days.

Wasn’t sure @ first, but price was right. Informative information in the rectory with an audio tape & roped off rooms displaying how they might have looked during the timeframe.
Trails around buildings to an outlook & to a small cemetery. Church, although it has been resurrected by volunteers was just too musty smelling for me! Really smelly. Brought back some early memories of when I was Catholic. Nice relaxing walks & the visitors center is accessible for a fee. Nice gift shop.

It was a good place for a stop between Wallace and where we stayed in Blanchard. Lots of history on how the church started in the area. It cost 5 dollars just to park and walk around and go in the church but if you wanted to watch a. Video about it was an extra 10 dollars so I opted out of that you can walk around in and out and read all the information signs. It still is with going.
