This museum was amazing. What a piece of history it contains. Amazing video to watch. This was a great place to visit, of an event I knew nothing about.

Our visit here seemed like a bonus being able to learn this very interesting piece of aviation history that is almost forgotten now. The young staff were keen and well informed (and perhaps a bit bored). Displays were very good and informative.

Stayed in Botwood for the night and visited the museum especially with the Catalinas on display and the information about them. Botwood also had a lot of murals on buildings.

We made the mistake of going on a Sunday. Along with about a dozen other tourists, we arrived at the Museum, only to find it closed. Definitely a disappointment, as we were really looking forward to this. Oh well, next time.

We enjoy the visit of this small museum. We learned a lot on the first commercial Atlantic flights which were made with flyingboats from Botwood NL I wished they would have kept a replica of these giant Boeing aircraft. There is nothing left of this historical site except for the Bay.

nice place to visit and get some good history facts about the wars of the past and the Flying Boat Air Carrier.

To discover that this small out of the way place is the first international airport of Canada was simply amazing. The museum is small but provides a 20 minute movie, probably filmed in the 30's, that tells the story of how the area was developed to service the large passenger boat planes that flew the Atlantic in the late 1930's. For $5 it is worth the knowledge gained.

This is across the parking lot from the Botwood Heritage Centre. Quite interesting display of the time when the flying boats made Botwood (apparently) a household name.
I had no idea they used Botwood as a trans-Atlantic stop, nor how luxurious flying was back then (sigh!). Well worth a visit

I visited the museum with my boyfriend, who actually grew up in the town of Botwood. Surprisingly, he had never seen the museum himself.
We saw pictures of his relatives who were in the Navy and quite a bit more than anticipated regarding the small town.
Interesting to know that the first transatlantic flight was flown into Botwood!
The young girl who took our admission wasn't too eager to show us much and actually couldn't answer a simple question about the sea plane outside of the museum, but we did enjoy ourselves thoroughly. It took us about an hour to see all the exhibits in the old building, quite the history this place has! The very first time I have seen, in person, a real vintage hair perming machine (scary!) lol!
A must see for visitors...a real little gem!
Make sure you come on a decent day as to walk out on the island before or after your tour!
