These dog friendly gardens are so pleasant to stroll through. There are some spectacular trees. Such a nice place to walk the dog.

Oasis in the heart of town

Famously designed garden by Guilfoyle in 1800s. Small and easy to wander around close to city centre.

Lovely on a hot day
dez de 2020
The gardens are laden with beautiful green shady European trees and rambling green lawns and is a great place to go on a hot day. As soon as you enter you can feel a cool drop in the temperature, because of the shade and greenness, giving instant relief. There's a lovely duck and fish pond with a walking bridge and kids love to feed the ducks. There's also a playground and plenty of room for children to play and run around. There's a lovely rotunda on the lawn area and a beautiful old water fountain along the path that rambles throughout the gardens. A great place to take the family.

Divine heritage garden

This garden is stunning. Designed by the same garden designer as the Melbourne Botanical gardens it has some amazing heritage trees and an old world feel. Beautiful whimsical Fountain and gazebo. Oh and a giant amphitheatre with love music in a rotunda some weekends.

Lovely gardens
out de 2020 • Amigos
These gardens are well maintained. There are a lot of seats and tables scattered throughout the gardens, with paving going all around the gardens. There's a large Rotunda in the middle of the gardens, public toilets, a pond with a bridge where lots of ducks were swimming and a nice BBQ area which is located near the playground. A nice place to walk around and enjoy all the flowers, have a picnic lunch or BBQ or to take the kids for a play on a nice day.

The Hamilton Botanic Gardens are one of the earliest regional botanic gardens in Victoria. Hamilton was first surveyed in 1850 with land set aside for a public garden in 1853, and was gazetted in 1870. The undulating site maintains the original reservation of 10 acres (4 hectares) and is located one block south of the commercial centre of Hamilton.

The Hamilton Botanic Gardens, established in 1853, are historically significant as one of the earliest provincial botanic gardens, being the fourth oldest in Victoria. Botanic Gardens had been established in Melbourne in 1846, and Portland and Geelong in 1851. The Hamilton Botanic Gardens have a special association with the work of William Guilfoyle as an early example of his design exemplifying his ideas about planting, which were being actively implemented in his sweeping redevelopment of Mueller's design of the Melbourne Botanic Gardens from 1873 to 1909 and at Warrnambool from 1877. Guilfoyle is regarded as one of Australia's greatest garden designers.

We stopped because I located this on Tripadvisor and it was a great excuse for a nice walk. The gardens are stunning with beautiful established trees. There is also a cottage on the grounds... closed, perhaps for Covid.

The public toilets were some of the cleanest I visited whilst I was on a road trip. The gardens are worth taking a stroll in.

depends on the weather....

well...I'd say whether it is good or not is just depending on the weather...

I went there on a cloudy and it was just quiet there....a lot of ancient and giant trees...but no so amazing as the Botanical Garden in Melbourne....

Grand Gardens
nov de 2019
The Hamilton Botanic Gardens are green and lush; just the place to relax on a sunny day. Apparently, they are the fourth oldest botanic garden in Victoria and the stately, mature trees are testament to this. The entry gates are also picturesque.
