Having already been to the Action World in Paihia and loved it, we were very excited to get the opportunity to go again.
This one, however, is a disappointment. No mini golf, no water slide and all the equipment seemed very old.
I could have easily dealt with all this though if the staff weren't so rude (must add that not all were like this, some were very lovely) trying to talk to a male member of the staff but while I'm asking a question he is busy doing pull-ups on a bar, the bloody fool.
When he finally stopped his only answer was that I had pronounced 'Paihia' wrong "bloody hell mate I don't know what you're saying - it's PIE-HEE-AH, not Pa-hee-ya"
Thanks a lot for that lesson.
When I decided to ask a female member of staff she seemed too pre-occupied with doing the splits and wrapping her legs around everything in sight. Very flexible but very unhelpful.

The safety briefing is quick and short which is nice. There are around 8 different things you can go on which is great. The trapeze is definitely the scariest but also the most rewarding! The instructors that work there are really great at helping you when you're on the equipment, particularly the trapeze!

There isn't much food at the cafe, only some fizzy drinks, crisps and ice cream.

It is a little bit expensive for the price, but I think if you make the most of it (by being brave and trying out all the different things) then the price isn't too bad.

Note that there is a spectator fee, so if you're going in with kids and just want to watch.. You will still be charged.

We were looking for something to do on our final day in NZ and found the website for action world. Trapeze, tight ropes, joust, jumps, no nets and innovative air cushion systems. We were intrigued and took a chance. We are adults (active 30's) so when we first rolled up and found the place slowly filling up with families, primarily with what i guess are 8-14 year olds there was some trepidation that maybe this wouldn't be for us, but we were there so we figured what the heck lets check it out. I'm so glad we did, after the short safety brief and the initial trainer tasks you get let loose to play on the toys. the highlights are the climbing wall, tight rope and trapeze. At first there was a line for a lot of things (but pretty short only waiting 5 minutes or less for a turn since people generally fall off everything pretty quick) but after about an hour most the kids were getting tired out or stopping for snacks and by the time we were too tired out ourselves most obstacles had very short if no line. The trapeze is the most challenging and rewarding and you can spend the whole day working to advance on it, you are coached by some very talented staff and start from simple single swing fall, to a transition, and once you have those down they will start working you up to adding flips. I found the price to be pretty good for the amount of time you can spend and the amount of fun you have. I totally recommend action world for a fun offbeat way to kill an afternoon, they are clearly geared towards families but there are no age limits (only a fit limit for trapeze as you must advance to a certain stage on swing bars prior) and most of the obstacles are challenging enough that any non-gymnest is going to have trouble completing the task. Lots of fun

We went with 5 children ranging from 7 to 14 (one of whom was severely autistic). All the children had a terrific time, all finding activities which they strived to conquer. My 14yro raced through the easier activities and then spent the rest of the time trying to learn the trapeze. The autistic child tried most things but loved the bouncy castle and the sandpit the most.

It's a wonderful way for the kids to experience something that's not readily available anywhere else. How else can the kids brag "I can do the trapeze".

There aren't a huge amount of activities to do and although it wasn't hugely busy when we went, there were still queues for everything.

The safety briefing was informative and not too lengthy. It is a great place to take children for a couple of hours.

In my opinion it wasn't worth the cost of getting in (especially as you have to pay to spectate).

Took my four here (aged 5, 7, 11, 13). Took a few minutes for them to get into it, and we hid under the shelter while there was a smattering of rain. However, they thoroughly enjoyed climbing bouncing and battling each other. Special surprise was that my 7yr old autistic blossom was surprisingly good at the trapeze! Staff was on hand and helpful so that as a parent I could sit back and not worry. Thanks for a great day! Little caravan available for coffee, fizzy cans and cupcakes but they are more than happy for your own lunch and there are ample picnic tables under shelter to put everything.

We went at the behest of some friends but it turned out to be so much fun. My BF really thought it was going to be lame but ended up conquering the trapeze and tightrope. I never thought I would have so much fun falling off things.

You know you're on to a winner when your kids run from attraction(?) to attraction. It's doubly a winner when you get the joy of seeing what your kids are capable off.

The attractions provide a safe and fun environment for kids (mine are primary school age) to conquer fears, build their self confidence and while providing a thrill! It stretches their physical abilities, provides a hint of danger and enables them to have the joy of watching dad drop like stone off the trapeze.

It's like a westie Rainbow's End (Auckland's only theme park) but with the kids actively participating rather than being shunted around. Real world excitement.

The staff at every station were helpful and interacted well with the kids and parents.

$76 for a family pass and we spent 3 1/2 hours there. Good value as we stayed until the kids were exhausted.

There was just the right size of crowd with all the families there having smiles a mile wide.

Didn't try the coffee or food so can't comment. But plenty of covered and uncovered picnic space for you to bring your own. There are also trampolines and a couple of play areas for the under-5s.

Bookings essential.

As always the question is would we go back? and in this case, oh yes we will!

Tip: You have to do the trapeze.

We went there with 4 families last weekend. Kids love it. Mums love it too. Reasonable entry fee. They have those thrilling games to keep children busy while all mums can sit down to chat and eat for the whole day. (As they allow people to bring in food. They don't sell any food over there.) Each slide has a staff to assist the kids. So, very safe.

If your kids are 6+ years old and very active, this is a good place to bring them. Although they have a small area for younger children with bouncie castle and swings, but their main focus is still for those slightly bigger kids. Will definately visit again. But booking is essential, as they limit the number of children entry each day.

However, it would be helpful if they sell simple food and beverages, such as coffee, juice, popcorn or chips, or even susage sizzle....
