Visited today. Haven’t been for years and now I have a dog I thought it’d be lovely. It’s a gorgeous place, many different routes you can walk. Well kept, clean, no litter around.
One point is the cafe, the reason I put 4 stars and not 5. Looked forward to a well deserved coffee and cake after our walk, sadly it wasn’t to be as cafe is cash only. I’m sorry but what? The lady said it’s because they can’t get signal there, that’s really not good enough. I’m sure there’s a way to sort that out. Cakes were pre bought, not freshly made. This cafe could be an absolute goldmine, like the NT one at Nimmings, Clent.
But the Lickeys themselves, wonderful and well worth a visit.

Wanted to get out of the city and get back into nature. Great place to hike and get away from it all. Get there early to ensure you can park; parking is free as well.

I visited here for the first time today and absolutely loved it. It was the hottest day of the year so far, which helps but regardless I thought it was great.
We parked by the visitor centre and had a wander around before the kids had a play in the playground.
The forest is great and there are several easy trails to follow. We did a loop one that led us back to the play area.
The playground was good, although not too suitable for very young children. My two year old could only really go on the swings, but my near 5 year old had a great time.
The visitor centre has toilets, info and an area to get food, drinks, ice creams etc from.
When searching for this place on your sat Nav, search for the visitor centre. We just typed in the Lickey hills country park and it took us to the main road a couple of minutes away

As a child I lived at the Lickey Hills at the weekend where I went berry picking and roamed through the bluebells. It was like a wild place to my sister and brothers and me. Our mother would pack us a picnic and give us some change for the amusements. We trampled through the fauna as there were only a couple of paths and we never liked to take them as we wanted to climb what we considered to be the hills. I went back recently and it looked so barren and over organised that it was sad. However as a child I had a secret place that few people knew about and I was delighted to find it was still there and still hidden. I had to scramble through all the large bushes and thicket to get to it and when I came out my family thought I must have been attacked by something.

Can't understand how people can review a beautiful wild park negatively. It's a large park which is pretty much left to nature and shaped by peeks and troffs in its use by the public.
Yes, some paths are muddy and wet - but it's a natural country park and I wouldn't have it any other way. If you can't enjoy putting your boots on and walking in the hills then what can you do?
Easily accessible, connecting paths to various areas, including Barnt Green (good for a coffee) and also the golf course. The duck ponds are beautiful too, lots of memories in this beautiful spot right on my door step.

Lovely walks with our doggy as usual, playgrounds fab too. So many trees have been cut down because of the diseases but that can’t be helped at all. Still a beautiful place to enjoy a good walk!

Countryside walks and the views are superb. Superb for families with a choice of paths. It needs a cash injection to bring it back to life at the visitor centre and the playground. Both are very tired. Also, need more dog bins and access to toilets.

The Lickey Hills are a brummie favourite as they're great for a walk and less taxing than Waseley Hills. Lots of dog walkers here. Nice views from the top across Birmingham. Beautiful in autumn when the leaves change.

We visited today 23/08/21 with our 5 year old son we had a nice walk in the woods with our dog who he we enjoyed although no bins anywhere for dog poo so carrying a smelly bag all the way round with us.
The visitor centre is so dated and not fit for purpose it’s exactly the same as when I was a child many years ago poor toilet facilities and cafe not great horrible tea and coffee.
The play area has no seating for anyone with a dog with a view of the play so we could keep and eye on our child whilst having a seat needs picnic benches etc.
The play area could use a revamp and extend it.
It’s time for Birmingham city council to spend some money on a huge revamp of the visitor centre with proper cafe for the amount of visitors it gets

Is the cafe at the golf club by the large pool run by the council, or is it a private concern ? I remember going in there some time ago now and there were tables and chairs. Because of Covid I assume, they have all been removed and it's now just standing only. Will they eventually be put back in ? After a nice long walk up the hill past the pools, I used to enjoy coming back and sitting down with a relaxing cup of tea and sandwich.
