This is definitely one of the best peaceful temple i have ever seen.
Once you enter the main temple you can actually feel how old it must be.

One best temple for religious travellers. Oldest and spacious temple. I go here once in a week for peaceful prayer. The quite ambience and the majestic structures always amaze me. Everyone who visits Karur, should visit the temple without fail. It would be one best devotional experience for sure. Few romantic pairs use this as their meeting spot which is my only negative remark about the place.

This Shiva temple is one among the seven shivalayam- which has thevaram songs sung Naalvar..

This Temple has two Amman sannithis..
Worshipping Karur siththar sannithi in full moon days is a very divine gift for the people..

Not all the people who try to attend the pooja will be able to come..

Only those who are allowed by the siththar himself will be able to come here.. This is a firm belief among the people who come here..

Come And feel Blessed ..

You can reach this Temple just by taking a walknfor about 150 metres from The bus stand..
This Temple has two Amman sannithi and the main deity of this Temple is Pasupatheeswarar...
This is one of the seven Sivan temples (in Kongu mandapam) sung by nayanmars..
Karur siththar sannithi is the speciality of the temple..

Speciality of the temple -

01. The sun's rays fall on Shiva linga in the Tamil month of mass for five days..
02. Suyambu lingam..
03. Eripaththa Nayanar and Karuvoor thevar were born here..
04. This Temple was once renovated by the great emperor Musukunthan..
05. Karuvoorar one of the 18 sithars merged himself with the shivalingam..
So, the lingam is seen to be slightly bending to one side..

It is an ancient temple. Here the reigning Lord is pasupatheeswarar. A must visit for all who want to see ancient culture, scripture. Here pradosham and other saivite functions are held with great pomp and valour. There is a great following during these functions.
There is also the samadhi of siddhar karuvureeshwarar. The name of the town comes from his name. The samadhi is quiet and meditation is total. U can see a lot of people coming and meditating here. There is also sannadhis for ganapathy and ambal.
A must visit for the entire family.
