Spectacular Scenery

Fantastic running/hiking trails. Since Parks have free admission Monday through Thursday I've taken advantage of a few Parks close to home. They have a day use area which is fantastic for families.

One of the Best Provincial Park
jul de 2021 • Família
We went camping for the 2nd time to Killbear. This is an exceptional park. A lot of things to do, a lot. They have a lot of sandy beaches to choose from so it does not get too busy or too crowded (the day use beach is not nicest though). A lot of people bike and they have a lot hiking trails. The Twin point trail is very easy to hike. Harold's point is my fave but it is kind of tricky to climb (or going down to). The Lighthouse trail is also a bit hard (for a not so athletic person like me) but there is another easier way to the lighthouse if u r coming fr the lighthouse beach. We were able to view the sunset fr granite saddle rocks but there r other location to view the sunset. Beaver dam rocks are spectacular. Our campsite (1049 granite)is big, very close to the beach and washroom. We will never get tired of going to Killbear. It is THAT awesome.

If you enjoy spending time with loud, rude, foul folks then this is the place for you. Worst camping experience ever. Site was a HILL with no level land. Pitiful.
There are much nicer Parks to visit with a beach!

Wonderful visit

Beautiful campsite by the water. Short walk over to the lighthouse. Swimming in the lake. Even when we didn't bring our bikes to use the beautiful bike trail, it was a great time at Killbear. This is one of our favorite Ontario parks. Really lucked out in the getting a campsite by the water at Lighthouse Campground last minute.

Try to avoid Gypsy moth season
jul de 2021
Killbear itself was beautiful! The jumping cliffs were our favourite part! Our stay was quite rainy but we maximized our time when the sun came out. There are several beaches including an off leash dog beach that Cody and Abby enjoyed! Thankfully one of our nights stay did not have rain so we were able to experience the beautiful sunset at Sunset rock located in our campground area know as the Beaver Dams and were also able to see Killbears iconic tree while there. Did you know it is Canada's most photographed tree? The lighthouse was cool to check out too and was a short easy trail to get to it!
Killbear has several site that actually back onto the water which would be amazing sites to secure for your stay!!!
Sadly there Gypsy Caterpillars were overwhelming during our stay. They were literally everywhere and rained caterpillar poo on us throughout our stay. This definitely dampened our experience.
There's a store nearby called the Detour that supplies everything for your camping needs!

Experience below expectation
jun de 2021
This is a Provincial Park which we love. However, this year's experience has been below anything expected because of the caterpillar invasion which has plagued the park. The worst is the fact that the Park is not doing anything to reduce the menace and allow these "creepy crawlers" to destroy the park.
We went there at the end of June 2021.

Beautiful area, lots to do
jun de 2021
My husband, our 2 young boys and our 2 dogs went camping here for 4 nights near the end of June. As hard as it is we managed to get 2 good sites right close to the beach (had to change sites to stay longer) We have been here before and love the location we camp in. There are other sites closer to the water but they are hard to get. The bike trails are fun and the rock formation all around the shores are great to hang out on. There are also great places to hike near by. We spend alot of time at beaches when we go away and this one is good...we make sure they are. It says no dogs aloud but everyone has dogs so...The park is kept clean and is quiet. The showers are good but luke warm if you go during popular times.
The only bad things this year was the infestation of the gypsy moth caterpillars. There were literally millions everywhere! It was discusting but we were already there so we dealt with it the best we could.

Camping with dogs
jun de 2021 • Casais
My expectations were set very high as everyone who has been here loves this park and rates it as the best provincial park in Ontario. I came here with two small dogs and was expecting a decent dog beach but was very disappointed to find that the dog beach is so small and rocky that it is not worth the drive to get there. It is more of a dog exercise area and bring your hiking boots to get there and don’t plan on hanging out as so many people were hoping to do. The off leash dog beach was a huge disappointment as it’s about 10 ft wide and rocky with fallen trees. However you can wonder the Canadian Shield shoreline and let your dog swim if it can handle Georgian Bay. The on leash dog beach was not recommended by a neighbour. A greater majority of people here today have a dog but you cannot go to the beautiful beaches with them. Hiking trails are awesome. Note if you are coming any time soon it is caterpillar infestation. Site 1 to 18 in kilcoursie is lacking in the privacy department but works for those looking to book multiple sites together. We were at site 14 - walk away to the beach but the other loops of kilcoursie so much nicer. However deer are all over the park.

Lots of nice campsites. Well run and clean. For many, this is annual pilgrimage. I go for the birding and stay for a swim.

Beautiful Park and Hoking Trails
out de 2020 • Casais
I’ve been to many parks but this was my first time at Killbear. It’s a beautiful park with lots of trails for biking and hiking. We went to the Lookout Point and Lighthouse. Will definitely try camping next time! Plenty of parking and very clean.
