Leuk en leerzaam, van dichtbij te bekijken.

Leuk om even een uurtje te kijken met kinderen. De techniek hoe zoiets werkt bijbrengen helpt mee aan de ontwikkeling. Ook bij minder mooi weer goed te doen, omdat de auto vlakbij kan staan. Leuk om te zien hoe hoog het water in 1993 stond. Staat aangetekend op het wachtershuisje.

Eerste rang boten kijken.

Mooi dat je direct aan de sluis kunt staan kijken. Boten varen voor je neus langs. Ook de andere kant van de sluis is bereikbaar. dus bij het sluiten van de deuren snel naar de andere kant gelopen. Wat is zo’n vrachtschip groot en wat komt hij ver omhoog bij het openzetten van de sluis. Indrukwekkend. Niet alleen leuk voor de kinderen.

Mooi schouwspel in het hoogteverschil van de Maas

We kwamen zonder het te weten op weg naar het veer deze sluis tegen. De fietsen langs de kant gezet en heerlijk op een bankje gekeken naar het schutten van de schepen. Dit gaat best snel. 1 kolk was in onderhoud.

tijdens een fietstochtje reden we langs deze stuw in de Maas.
helaas kon je niet op het sluizencomplex rondlopen (zoals bijv. bij de Volkeraksluizen), dus moesten we het vanaf een afstand bekijken

Fascinating, huge, lock

The sluis at Sambeek, not far from Boxmeer, is a very large lock on the river Maas. It is a very popular place, many people (including ourselves) go there just to watch the huge barges which pass thorough this lock. It is fascinating to watch these huge boats pass through the lock - and very relaxing. Right next to the lock is De Moerstoel, a very nice cafe. The staff here are very friendly, the coffee is excellent - and so is the food.
A couple of minutes' drive away is a chain-link ferry across the Maas.
Strongly recommended.
