Amazing show, sets, costumes and music
My only negative is the obstructing balcony seating
Again this year the Grand collected monetary donations for the London Food bank, if this is going to be an annual endeavour, it would be a great idea to advertise this prior to performances so people are more prepared

Fantastic Venue

Went for a production of Mary Poppins, and was very pleased with the theatre. Very cool place to see a play or show. My only complaint would be that there's not much of a view on the balcony on the ends.

Jeans and Classic concerts

We love these musical events... we have been going for a few years and book all of these concerts at The Grand Theatre. It is an entertaining and relaxing evening.
Hearing wonderful music played by the rock symphony orchestra and singers is just fabulous. If you are lucky you might be able to get tickets for October 3rd featuring the music of Adele to Pharrell.
As a bonus, there is complimentary Joe Cool’s pizza after the concert in the upstairs lounge! Best pizza ever!

What an amazing performance by this shows cast. I was tapping my foot to the music. Seats were comfortable and had a fantastic view of the stage. Can't say enough good things about this show.

Excellent theatre for a play or musical

Really beautiful theatre located in downtown London Ontario. The quality of the productions is quite good and they offer a diverse range of shows. Ticket prices are also very reasonable. Nearby are excellent restaurants for pre and post show dining and there's plenty of parking too.

On Friday we went to "The Fiddler on the Roof" staged by Catholic Central Secondary School. This venue was perfect for this production. There isn't a poor seat in the house which was good as it was sold out. It is great that London has a place to stage such performances.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC - Vigilante at the Grand Theater
fev de 2019 • Casais
Just got home after watching this absolutely amazing show. Based on the Black Donnelly saga with a few alterations it was presented in a rock concert with a totally awesome cast. There were no weak links in any performance. The very basic props and minimal costume allowed you to focus entirely on the show and truly enjoy a theatatrical masterpiece performance. I would be hard pressed to find any fault anywhere from the music, vilolin, guitarist, keyboard, it was somber at times and so right for the performances. The actors were truly brilliant in every aspect. The sound quality, musical ability, and wholehearted performances made you feel you were with them every step of the way. Jan Alexandra Smith played Johannah Magee Donnelly and OMG what a performance. She put so much heart into every word, every song there were genuine tears streaming down her face (and mine) as she performed. She lived and breathed every moment from young lover to widow to heart broken mother. You could not help but feel every pain she did and rise with her pride as her boys grew to young successful men, to her despair as they were slaughtered. It brings home the horror of what bigotry and bias can do to peoples lives in a way that is so close to home as the Donnelly Masacre happened short a short distance from London in Lucan, Ontario.

This show runs Feb 19 - Mar 9 2019 and if you have not got tickets for it yet...... well I don't know at this stage that you will - but defintely try, this will be the most riveting, heartwrenching, emotional true story told on stage you will see.

I have no connection to the Grand other than going to see some shows, and do not know any of the actors or musicians but I have no doubt their families are so very proud of the performances each and every one of them delivered.

There are some swear words but truley they add to the perfomance and actually create humour but in this regard it may not be suitable for younger children.

The audience did not clap during the performances which was unusual to me but it was so right for the show as it prevented the momentum from breaking. However, when the lights darkened at the end the whole audience literally jumped to it's feet, unable to contain itself any longer in responding to the amazing show they just saw.

To Jan Alexandra Smith, David Leyshon, Kris Joseph, Eric Morin, Carson Nattrass, Scott Walters, Benjamin Wardle and Eric Wigston, Congratulations, Well Done and THANK YOU for an amazing show. Also the musicians Taylor Cochrane, Earl Pereira, Leah Grandmont, Kurtis Schultz and Scott White, an absolutely beautiful, flawless performance.

McManus Theatre - a small, intimate and flexible venue. Current production is very poor
fev de 2019 • Casais
It's been a long time since I've been in the McManus Theatre downstairs at the Grand and it's been made much more flexible. With risers and satisfactory (although not luxurious) chairs, there's not a bad seat in the house for theatre in the round and the lighting, sets, and layout are very professional, flexible, and useful for small productions.

The current production of "Maggie & Pierre" is very poor. Over-acted and exaggerated in ways that were unfair and unkind to the Trudeaus and unfair to the script. My sense is that this actress had not become sufficiently familiar with the characters she was representing in this one-person play. In a day and age where it has become de-rigeur to give standing ovations to the worst presentations, only about a third of the audience stood up and the 'buzz' as we left was tepid at best, so I guess I'm not the only one who thought so. A poor use of a good theatrical venue.

Penelopiad
jan de 2019 • Casais
We had never been to The Grand before, but when we came across tickets for Penelopiad online we bought them and decided to try it out. I am a huge Margaret Atwood fan.
This play was interesting, very professionally done, and had moments of pure humor added in. The acting was great and they used the stage wisely, being that it was on the smaller side. (We found it to be small, however, this could be since we have only seen theatre productions in Toronto and Stratford, on larger stages).
The theatre itself has a nice lay out, with either a men's washroom or women's washroom on every floor, and the staircase in the middle. It allowed people to mingle and have drinks on each floor off to the side without being in much if the way of other patrons.
The one thing that really stuck out for my husband and I was that it was ridiculously hot in there. It was a cold day outside, but with all of the people crammed in and everyone's body warmth as you are sitting close to the person beside you....and on top of that, the heat cranked up high...I felt a bit like passing out at one point. I'm not sure if this was a one-off night, or if it is always this warm, but my suggestion if you are visiting is to wear layers. That way you can take something off if you are feeling too hot. Unlucky for me, I just wore a simple sweater. Even pushing up
the sleeves did nothing for the heat, making it a little hard to enjoy the show.
Besides that we had a good experience here and would consider returning for the right production.
