100% recommend renting scooters off Elmer!! He was so helpful, gave us recommendations on the best things to see/driving times, roads to avoid and even offered to take me for a test drive as it was my first time on a scooter! His shop is also right next to the ferry port which is really handy!

Elmer was incredibly helpful in every way. He provided a lot of information about the culture and natural history of the island. He was very honest and truly wants the best for clients. His tours are extremely memorable and I hope to do more. He offers seaplane tours, kayaking, canopy tours, horseback riding, volcano and waterfall hikes, and rental of scooters, motorcycles, and quads. I highly recommend his company.

Elmer ist super ! Kennt die Insel bestens und hat jede Menge Geheimtips. Es macht Spaß mit ihm zu Reden (Mutterwitz vorhanden).Wir haben für 6 Tage, die wohl besten Fahrräder von ihm geliehen. Er hat das einzig große Fahrrad der Insel, so daß auch mein Freund 1,95 m groß ,den Inseltrip genießen konnte.
Für mich würde ein anderer Sattel gesucht , bis ich glücklich war. Die letzten 3Tage hat er unser Gepäck aufbewahrt , und seine Frau hat es pünktlich zum verabredeten Zeitpunkt zurück gebracht.

If you're a solo female traveller, I would be wary about booking a guided tour with Elmer. He was my guide and drove me around the island on a scooter. Although his guiding was excellent and really informative, there were quite a lot of red flags during the day that made me feel very uncomfortable e.g. when swimming at Ojo de Agua, he'd bought me a cocktail that I hadn't asked for, and hadn't seen being made. I had no idea what was in it, and only know that it wasn't spiked because he asked to try some when I pretended to drink it and said that it was too strong for me. I wasn't happy about him drinking rum with me on the back of the bike, but at least I then knew that the drink was ok. However, it genuinely was really strong, and I hadn't asked for it and hadn't eaten anything since breakfast, so really didn't want to get drunk and be put in an even more vulnerable position. Whilst there, he made several comments about me having a really good body, which made me extremely uncomfortable. He offered to buy me beer at sunset as well. Obviously I didn't know if he was thinking that he was just being friendly, but my suspicions were confirmed as we drove back to town after sunset, and he started to stroke and hold onto my leg (thankfully he could only easily reach my shin), whilst telling me how much he liked me. He said he wished I'd left my passport as a deposit instead of $100, so that then he could keep hold of it to stop me leaving the island the next day. He said he'd keep my money instead. I decided against telling him to stop stroking my leg because I was concerned by being on the back of the bike. I knew there was no actual danger other than that, as he was already getting phone calls about being late to pick up the bikes and return deposits of other people in my hostel. If he hadn't have been having to go back there immediately, I would have been pretty scared to be on the bike alone with him in the dark. When we were back at the hostel, he did try to keep hold of my money. He gave the other people their's back, and then went to leave. I had to chase after him to get it (while making sure everyone could still see us).
Like I said, he was good at guiding, but there was definite sexual harassment and he put me in a really uncomfortable position where I ended up being worried for my safety. Just be careful if you're a solo female traveller.

Hello my name is Elmer, i am responding to this message as its not fair what my customer wrote about me, because in the price of the tour around the island i always include a cocktail(coco loco) for my customers, and of course she wrote this review because she didnt pay me for the tour at the end of the day..and i am sure she has done this to other people, this is just her way of saving money, not paying for the services requested....she totally lies, nobody else has said anything like this before, i do thousands of tours per year......

Elmer is the best! He is super friendly and his daughter is adorable. They have great, brand new bikes and options to suit you best. The location of his shop is perfect and he is easily reachable by WhatsApp incase you want to extend your rental, or coordinate what time to drop off. Definitely go with Elmer!

Elmer, We are two 80+ seniors who are still reasonably active. We don't want to climb the volcanos, but would like to take a couple of hikes, and kayak some, if possible. Let us know if you guide people on easier hikes, and give us an idea of your price for a half-day or a day with you. Are there places on Ometepe that rent kayaks? We are interested in wildlife as well, especially birds and would enjoy having a guide who knows most of the local birds. We are thinking of renting a 4 x 4 from your company. Is Moyagalpa convenient to other places on Ometepe for day trips? We would like to stay somewhere centrally located in order to see as much as possible. It is difficult to understand the distances on the island and the best places to stay, so any hints you have on this for us would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for helping us out with all our questions.
