This is a 2/3 mile round trip nature trail from the visitors center. It was pretty cold and windy in April and we had to wear a light jacket. We saw a snake on the trail that made this interesting.

This is about a half mile flat stroll from the Visitor Center to some ruins from the old Butterfield Stage route. It gets you out into the Chihuahuan desert terrain to see the flora and fauna - and also gives good views up to El Capitan in the distance. It is a great way to stretch your legs after driving, without doing any serious hiking.

1/3 of a mile there and 1/3 of a mile back. Would be suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. Dogs allowed. Benches along the way to stop and enjoy the scenery

Only had about an hour or so to spend at GMNP, so to at least get a feel of the area we took this trail. Great variety of plant life, beautiful views of the mountains, and at the end some historical markers. While it's short, if it's a hot day you'll absolutely need to take water - very little shade on the paved trail. Visitor center was also terrific.

We were passing through on our way to Carlsbad from Big Bend. I wanted to stop & check out The VC & see if there was a short hike we could take. It seems a shame that we didn't plan for more time. Guadalupe Mountains is a mecca for hikers!
The VC is small. No film. The ranger was very helpful, but a little put out that I nixed the Frijole Ranch hike he tried to send me on. The problem was we were pulling a trailer & pulling it down a gravel road just wasn't going to work. So, he told us about this one.
.3 miles & paved, this is more of a stroll. It takes you to the old Butterfield stagecoach station. So, we got some history in with our "hike". Next time, we'll stay longer & do some serious hiking!

Nice visitors center with clean restrooms you enter from outside. The walk is paved and very easy. It is open, meaning no shade cover, so definitely take a hat and water too if you drink a lot.

Easy and fairly short trail. Good views of the Guadalupe mountains and many wildflowers in season. Also some Butterfield Trail ruins can be seen.

This trail behind the visitor center is an easy trail- for kids and grandparents-- Very informational along the way telling you what everything is-- ends at the Butterfield Stage coach ruins-- walk the trail toward the highway to get pictures and information about the stagecoach-- it was hot- so take water- not a hard trail to walk

Available to pets, this short hike around the main visitor center gives lots of perspective of the geology and region. It's a short (.68 mile) hike without a grade change. Bring water!

The 0.7 mile (1.1k) roundtrip accessible trail starts behind the Pine Springs Visitor Center and takes one to the Pinery parking area along Hwy 62/180 and the ruins of the Pinery stagecoach station of the short lived (2.5 years) Butterfield Overland Mail Coach which covered 2,800 miles (4,500k) in a maximum of 25 days.

We found the ruins of the even shorter lived Pinery Station, built in 1858 but abandoned in 1859 when the line was shifted to the Davis Mountain route which was better protected by a string of military outposts, to be much more interesting than the trail itself. There is a portion of the ruins that can be reached by an accessible spur trail but it quickly changes to a path that loops around and through the remaining walls of the station’s buildings.
