We found this little gem on TripAdvisor, me and my wife were stopping down the coast at Saltcoats.
May be 15 minutes drive, and we found this amazing old mill and Museum.
Well worth a visit if you are in this neck of the woods.
And must say the coffee shop as to be one of the best, not just great food but good prices too.

My sister and I were looking for something to do yesterday and my sister stumbled on Dalgarven Mill on here and we are delighted she did. The place might be relatively small but it is incredible. Each floor is jam packed with so many old items and gives a very good insight into the Miller's daily life when Dalgarven was a working mill. We stopped for tea and cake in the wee tea room before we left and were lucky enough to meet Robert who was able to give us more insight into his families history of the mill and how he had worked so hard to restore it. Highly recommend a visit to this hidden gem. Thank you so much

We were heading for the Ardrossan/Arran ferry and looking for a nice place to stop for a lite bite. Very impressed with the warm welcome we received as soon as we entered the tea room. We only had sandwich and rhubarb pie but both were lovely and the rest of the cakes out on display looked yummy. We didn't have time to visit the mill but it looked good.

The tea shop is where it all starts and ends - warm friendly welcome, and good cake and teas/coffee after you've taken a wander through the many nooks and crannies of the museum itself. You'll probably encounter the owner who has collected all sorts of curios relating to country life along with a magnificent display of historic costumes and textiles - all of them in fine condition. Nice outdoor walks as well.

Researched places to visit and found this hidden gem. A must see with a great collection, enthusiastic owner and lovely ladies in the tea room. Great lunch at a good price.
Take time to speak to Robert who built the collection and rebuilt the mill.
Definitely will be revisiting in the future.
Good rainy day site and had a quiz for the children.

A lovely little community museum. You can see the love that has gone in to creating the collection. I particularly enjoyed the personal stories behind so many of the items which had been donated. A whistle stop trip will give you a history of the Mill and the local area or you can spend hours examining all the nooks and crannies.
The cafe was a particular treat. Sandwiches were nice but cakes were excellent. Staff were friendly and well informed.

What an amazing place. This was a gem of a find. We stopped for a visit with my family and the dog. Beautiful location very friendly. We met the owner who gave us his history and a personal tour it was fantastic and so interesting. We chatted and had a great discussion about the costumes and how the museum started and things in common.
Lovely cafe with space indoors or out and water bowls for the dog. It is over three floors but my brother who has mobility issues managed with time.

After a very nice walk in the Ayrshire countryside the Mill cafe ( still open through these difficult times ) is a great friendly place to get a decent cuppa and cake to fuel your journey.
If you have time the attached museum gives a great insight to local history.
Easy to get to if you take the less strenuous option and a nice riverside car park .
