Fantastic experience day here at York Bird of Prey. All the Volunteers were very welcoming and made me feel like part of the family.

The day was very in depth with history of the birds and knowledge about the birds and how to look after them. This accompanied by having the opportunity to handle these wonderful animals. Even had the chance to fly a few.

The service was very bespoke and you can tell that the Vilunteers really care for the birds in their charge. Fun for people of all ages and well worth the money you pay for any type of visit.

I even managed to get a selfie with one of the grumpiness birds I have ever met, pictured left, and one of the most gentle and calm I have ever met, pictured right.

This day has encouraged to to pursue my dream of becoming a falconer and hopefully one day the opportunity to volunteer and care for these birds and show them and the staff off to others.

Thanks guys, even in the freezing cold you always aim to please. See you very soon

Wow! I rarely write reviews but I just had to for this place. We visited the Christmas special and it was amazing! The staff went above and beyond and were simply superb. There was loads to do for adults and kids they had plenty of the baby owls out and they let you hold and stroke them. The staff are so knowledgable and helpful and the Santa was honestly one of the best Santas we’ve visited. We will definitely be back in summer.

A wonderful facility so friendly and knowledgeable staff. Superb range of birds to see. We went to christmas special weekend and we loved it. Will definitely return in summer when the flying schools are back on.

What an amazing visit, such a cold wet day but the effort put in was above and beyond, 4 adults and 3 children and we all had fun, giggled and time flew. The staff/volunteers must of been frozen but they were all in character and looked like they were enjoying the day too. My son hasn’t stopped talking about it and in his words “ that was the best hotdog mum, and that butterbeer was amazing”. We didn’t really know what to expect before arriving as hadn’t done any research but would definitely visit again. Very knowledgeable about the birds and we even got to hold an eagle. Well done all involved.

This was mine and my husband's third visit here. This time we booked the Hawk Walk experience for ourselves along with our 17yr old niece and her mum and dad. We arrived before the first show and had a look round the site and all the birds there. At this point our niece was quite concerned that the birds were all caged or tethered to perches. Having attended both flight shows we then experienced our personal hawk walk where you get to fly your own hawk with a handler. During the walk our niece asked a lot of questions to the handlers about the conditions and behaviours of the birds. From that she gained an understanding of the birds' natural behaviours and how the centre free fly the birds regularly and are constantly monitoring the birds health and welfare. At the end of the day we asked her opinion of the centre and how she would rate it on TripAdvisor and she said she would happily rate it as a 5. Our handlers for the Hawk Walk were Charlie and his dad Michael. Its easy to see how passionate these two are about the birds in their care.

Visited for the first time today and had a brilliant day. The volunteers are all great and so knowledgeable which made the day even better. I asked if we could hold a few owls, and we very lucky as he let us hold 2 and a different person let us hold the owl, Marshmallow earlier in the day. It was also absolutely amazing to be able to hold a golden eagle!! The flying show was fantastic too. Can’t wait to return. Definitely recommend if you like birds of prey!

Wow what an amazing place, the volunteers are so friendly and knowledgable. Included in the entry fee gives you a chance to get close to the birds….I held a golden eagle this morning! I’ve been to a few places like this and this by far is the friendliest and allows the greatest interaction with the birds. Would definitely recommend for all ages. Thank you!!

We did a hawk walk with Neil - it was excellent! He was so knowledgeable and interesting, and we really liked the emphasis on keeping things as natural as possible for the birds. We brought our four-year-old daughter who is often very shy of animals, and I have never seen her concentrate so much. Neil was great at involving her and she has been talking about the 'nice birds' all evening.

We purchased a Groupon for afternoon tea at the adjacent Burn Hall Hotel which included free access to the York Bird of Prey Centre – It’s worth mentioning that the centre does not receive any money from the purchase of vouchers for Burn Hall, from Groupon, Wowcher, Living Social or the like, which also include access to the centre. We left a voluntary donation after our visit which was worth every penny and very gratefully received.

Andrew, Claire and Neil were the experts at the centre who displayed and flew the birds on the day that we visited. It’s very apparent that they are passionate about what they do. They are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the birds but also so funny and entertaining (Andrew, you really should be on the stage!). The birds are incredible, so beautiful and obviously cherished and well-cared for. We were able to handle and stroke them – it was truly fantastic! There was ample opportunity to ask questions and also time to view the other birds in their aviaries. We watched 2 amazing flying displays in all and are still in awe!

The afternoon tea at Burn Hall was fresh and tasty and we were able to return back into the centre afterwards to watch the second flying display.

Parking was ample and free and the centre easy to find using SAT NAV. There aren’t adequate words to describe this truly wonderful place - please go, support and donate to this fantastic place. You won’t be disappointed.

We can’t wait to return! Thank you again.
