This was our main target when visiting Nias. The location was about 3 hours from Gunungsitoli. The road was good enough. We came in the afternoon before sunset and there was only a few tourist. At the parking area someone from village owned enterprise met us and invited us into their office to receive an explanation of the visit package. The price for 1 jump was Rp.150.000,- and for rent traditional clothes was Rp.25.000,- per person. All prices are transparent.
After wearing traditional clothes we took some photos near the stone used for the attraction. And then the stone jumping attractions began. We took some pictures near the stone when the stone jumper jump over the stone. It was really excited and amazing experience.
After 5 time jumps, we continued with walking around the village. They still keep the traditional houses. The main building was belongs to the king of the village. We also bought some wooden sculptures as the memento of this place. The price was reasonable.
The people here were very friendly, the guide from the village owned enterprise also friendly and helpful. He and some other villager people help us taking pictures. We gave them tips and it was really on our willingness. The merchants here didn't force us to buy the goods. We really enjoy our visit.

During our CSR program on Nias Island, we took time to see the jumping stone attraction directly and learning the story of Nias people. A lifetime experience that can’t be missed.

An amazing experience, impressive architecture and excellent guides. The kids put the costumes on after being encouraged by the local village people who were friendly, open and enthusiastic. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Nias!

The traditional dance and song were a great treat to see. Be sure to look at the construction of the homes along the main square.
Be prepared to have your picture taken and to be photographed with the locals -- it was such fun and feels so safe here.

First visited Nias back in 1990 and had he chance to visit annually after that until 1993. So much have changed. We no longer have to climb so many stairs like before because of the new road. The roofs of the traditional houses have been changed using modern materials like tin. Only a few would use woven "jerami" as their roof.
It is true you need to pay to see the stone jump but it is worth it. Come on. These guys need to make a living like us too.
Some of the reviews here saying there is a need for management, in a way it is right but not entirely because if management is started to be put in place, we would need to pay in order to get inside the village. Would you like that? Paying to watch the stone jump already disgruntling a lot of visitors. What they actually need is education. Foreigners are teaching English down at the beach but nobody teach these villagers hospitality.
If you come to Nias, come and visit Bawomataluwo, but please also visit other villages even though it is not as grandeur as Bawomataluwo.

Semoga bermafaat.

The guy who jumps needs lot of courage, hats off to the young boys. they challenge you to lie down above stones and they will jump above that and they do that with ease.

hi ! all, need to know the lompat batu are present one whole year ? when the best time to visit nias island and when the raining or monsoon season ? thanks
Feita em 30 de abril de 2015
Lompat batu is available throughout of the year but you need to pay to see it. If you want to see their traditional dance, come during Indonesia's Independence Day on Aug. 17th and Christmas. Otherwise you have to pay a lot to get to see the dance wearing traditional clothing.
Best time to visit Nias is middle of the year according to Mark Flint, owner of Kabu Nohi at Sorake because of the big swell. Give him a call and check out his place. I am not affiliated with them at any way.
Raining season would be around at the end of the year, but please do check with the locals.
Salam from Nias
