Great for the museum. The staff was knowledgeable and had a lot of interesting exhibit. Very small. But just perfect to get the history of Texas and pacific railroad and the model train is really neat also!

My husband and I went to the Texas & Pacific Railway Museum on a Monday morning. There were no vehicles in the parking lots and the Museum appeared to be closed. Covid-19 times. The beautiful station was built in 1912. The historic 1896 Ginocchio Hotel shares the same parking lot. That is an interesting building as well. It is certainly worth a 10 minute stop to look around.

Unfortunately the Museum was closed when I visited the Train Station this trip, however have been there in prior trips. For those who love all Classic Train things and History accordingly, the Texas & Pacific Railway Museum is a 'Must See' - very knowledgeable and friendly 'Proprietors'. Also, wonderful Restaurant in the beautifully restored Ginnachio Hotel there, open for lunch & dinner and cocktails if desired!

We decided since we were visiting nearby we would take a little side trip to visit the Railway Museum and I’m glad we did. What a small but noteworthy little gem, had some very interesting historical items and pictures. We loved the model train and especially liked climbing on the old Engine and Caboose outside!

We were allowed to tag along with a school group on a guided tour. The tour guide knew everything about the history of the yards and the Texas and Pacific Railroad.
Admission fee is negligible; $1 apiece for seniors and $2 for adults, if they charge you. Donations are accepted.
The museum is not that large, but it is packed with exhibits. There is a diorama of the train yards, complete with running model trains, as they once existed. A fire in 1971 effectively ended the era of working shops, then housed across many buildings.
Several trains passed while we were there. The outdoor walkway on the 2nd floor provides a nice view of the surrounding area. Both an old locomotive and a caboose are open to visitors.

Good local museum with interesting artifacts dealing with the Texas & Pacific RR. The station is also used by Amtrak, and is across the track from the Ginocchio, an excellent restaurant.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Such a unique time and place of American history that should be preserved and enjoyed. We enjoyed all the great displays and the engine and caboose outside.

I took my 90-year-old father, a former Texas and Pacific RR employee, to see this museum on a nice spring day. The station itself is quaint and picturesque and the museum, though small, does a good job of telling the story of T&P and its importance to Marshall, Texas. While we were there, the Amtrak "Texas Eagle" arrived and we got to watch passengers board and then see the train leave on its westward journey toward Dallas. The gift shop salesperson and other staff were friendly and helpful. Kids of all age will enjoy being able to clamber into the engineer's cab of an old steam locomotive on the grounds of the station.

This is a very nice spot with interesting historical artifacts. The kids loved it, and it will pique your interest in trains, no doubt. It is still an Amtrak station, so you can see action at times. Friendly staff!
