The pictures indicate a beautiful park area that is not currently evident with the resident tent village. We did not know about the boardwalk on our visit and left once we saw the tents throughout the upper park area. I will return now that I have seen that there is a trailhead buried somewhere in the back leading down to the water. Hopefully the boardwalk is not blocked as it looks lovely.

What a cool park, little bit of everything and all wheelchair/stroller accessible. Top of the park has a Japanese garden kind of feel then cool boardwalk down to the water. Massive pier loops out into harbor with lots things going on, watch the seals, fishermen or crabbers. You can then loop back up to town on a rougher trail or backtrack if you want an easier walk.

This is a pleasant walk that takes you down to the ocean along a zig, zagging wooden staircase down the steep incline. At the bottom of the incline there is a long boardwalk that goes along the shoreline with beautiful views out to sea and the beach! Its worth doing this walk after all you did come to Sooke for the scenery and getting out into nature didn't you! Parking is free and the entrance to the park is about 60-75 yards from the lot

We were in search of a wheelchair accessible trail near Sooke. The switchback trail from the parking lot down to the Marin boardwalk was easily manoeuvred even with a wheelchair. Views from the boardwalk were pretty. It was fun to watch the folks who are crabbing off the dock.

I just expected some nice flower beds when entering this green space off the main road. But not only was there a small amphitheatre, washrooms and historic entranceway, there is a well-maintained wooden walkway that is accessible that winds (ok, switchbacks) its way through a forested area and leads you to the Rotary Pier. What a lovely surprise and such a beautiful walk! Benches at the Park and on the Marine Boardwalk. Locals are seen crabbing and fishing there. If you've parked at the lot beside the Park, its best to retrace your way back. Or for a longer walk, you can go up Murray Road, which leads back to Hwy 14/downtown and loop back to the parking lot, which will add another 10-15 mins. The Park is just a beautiful place and well-designed.

This park is home to some homeless people who make it seem like a campground. They were neat, tidy, and polite. The walk is through some forest on the wooden planked walkways, the way it is set up makes the walk quite easy. It is a gradual incline and decline. It comes out onto a boardwalk where you may find some crabbers. You can take strollers, wagons, and bikes (walk them) on this walkway. Nice, simple, and easy, and would recommend.

From the road, it looks like a minimal park, with not much more than the front-porch pillars from a historic local hotel that burned down in 1934, a grassy area and a concert stage. But then you discover the wooded part at the back, featuring a switchback wooden walkway that takes you down to a quay that goes well into the water, and the beach. Great for families with small children, and well accessible for wheeled mobility aids.
